Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church is Seeking a Music Director

The part-time Director of Music (DM) is responsible for planning and facilitating music at parish liturgical celebrations. This includes, but is not limited to weekend liturgies, funerals, weddings, Feast Days and prayer services. The DM works closely with the Parish Staff, especially the Pastor, in coordinating music for these celebrations, and provides training for musicians (i.e. Cantors and Pianists) in and outside of the parish.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the Catholic Mass and liturgical documents: Sacrosanctum Concilium (Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy), The Roman Missal (2011 edition), The General Instruction on the Roman Missal (GIRM), Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, Music in Catholic Worship. Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communication. Project a friendly spiritual atmosphere to parishioners. Organize tasks to facilitate their timely accomplishment.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Here are the highlights:

  • The Spring Craft Fair and Bake Sale is tomorrow, Saturday, April 13th from 8am – 2pm. There are many vendors. Baked goodies can be dropped off by 9am Saturday.
  • The next Youth Group meetings are:
    • April 19th – K-5th (6-7:30p)
    • April 20th – MS/HS (3:30-5p)

  • Youth Mass: Sunday, April 21st at 11a.
  • First Reconciliation for both SPP an SJ students is on Saturday, April 27th at 10am at Sts. Peter and Paul.
  • First Holy Communion for SPP is on Saturday, May 4th at Noon.
  • Spring Into Wellness at our Health and Wellness Fair on April 24th from 11-2 in the Parish Hall. Multiple health care vendors will be on site, free blood pressure checks, hearing screenings and long-term care insurance consultants will be there, among others.
  • Walk for Life in Charlottesville takes place on Saturday, April 27th. More info on p. 6.
  • Parish Mission: save the dates: May 16 – 18, 2024.
  • CHIU Golf Tournament at Spring Creek information can be found on page 9.
  • Save the Date: for our Parish Trip to France to kick off our yearlong celebration of our 40th anniversary
    • April 24 till May 4, 2025
    • Additional details can be found on the Parish Council board in the Commons

  • Sts. Peter and Paul Religious Store is open before/after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays. There are great gifts for the upcoming Confirmation and 1st Communion season. You can contact the store via email at [email protected].

Let me take this golden opportunity to welcome you to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church website. Our Parish which is located on route 53, in Palmyra, Fluvanna County; serves the communities of Lake Monticello, Scottsville, Palmyra, and Columbia. Sts. Peter and Paul is a growing parish whose members strive to be faithful to the mission of Christ through its liturgical, educational and social service ministries. The parish has programs in education and pastoral ministry for children, youth and now adults, as well as a vibrant social ministry outreach program. There is a lot of information on this website that will assist you to know what is going on in this parish. I want to encourage visitors to consider joining us because every new parishioner adds richness to our faith community which allows us to more fully reflect the Body of Christ in today’s society.
